JOINING YARN
There are two ways you can join yarn, but there is one preferred method. The preferred method of joining yarns is at the beginning or end of a row. You should always join at the beginning or end of a row if possible. Tie the End of the first yarn to the end of the new yarn and proceed with your knitting, or you can just pick up the new yarn and begin knitting with it, then when you are finished with your garment you can go back, Untie the ends (if you tied them) and weave them into the back of the garment. Sometimes it is unavoidable to join in the middle of a row, in this case be very careful, Join the yarn in an inconspicuous place, such as at the edge of a cable or in a textured stitch area, and always weave the yarn in very neatly, and weave the strands into the back of the work in opposite directions. The other method of joining is to splice the two yarns together by untwisting the ends and then twisting them together, this works okay when you are joining the same color in the middle of the row, but it does tend to fray on the front of your work, so take care, and avoid this method of joining if Possible. I used the first method of joining because it is preferred, and it doesn’t tend to fray.
